Is Water Filtration Worth the Investment?

Times are tight for a lot of our customers in the Puyallup area. There always seems to be an endless list of things that are more worth your money than that new appliance, car maintenance, or a home water filtration system.

But we’d argue that some expenses are more important than others, and depending on your situation and your personal health, a water filtration system might be at the top of that list. If you’re looking for a good reason to justify purchasing a water filtration system, or investing in Puyallup water filtration system repair for your broken equipment, then this is the blog for you.

These systems are powerful and can make a huge difference in your quality of life.

How a Water Filtration System Works

Depending on the contaminants in your water supply, you’ll need a different type of filtration or purification system to do the trick.

For instance, if you’ve got a lot of biological contaminants in your water supply (like mold, bacteria, or waterborne viruses) then a UV water purifier will do the job easily. This system uses ultraviolet light to irradicate living single-celled organisms that would otherwise infect you or cause your water to taste foul. By eliminating these contaminants, it can become completely safe to drink.

But some contaminants aren’t biological. Dirt, dust, debris, sand, and even minerals can be a problem for your water supply.

In the case of contaminants like dirt or debris, a reverse osmosis filtration system can be a huge benefit for your home. These systems use a powerful process that allows only certain types of materials through a semi-permeable membrane while other contaminants get left behind. This keeps the water coming from your faucet as clear and clean as possible.

For minerals and other contaminants that might be dissolved in the water, a water softener can easily handle that load.

The Verdict

So, is this investment worth it? We listed off a variety of different water filters and purifiers, but the truth is that how much they’re worth depends on your unique situation.

Scenario 1: A Good Idea Now

If you’ve got a sensitive respiratory system, or allergies that can sometimes react to contaminants in your water supply, then it’s always a good idea to invest in a purifier or filter for your water. The cost of this installation is always better than the hospital visits or poor quality of life that comes from drinking contaminated water.

But if you don’t have these health concerns, we’d still recommend considering a water filter if your home’s water comes from a source that’s not already filtered or purified. And don’t forget, if your water filter is currently broken, water filter repairs are affordable and a great solution to the problem. It doesn’t always have to be about purchasing a new one!

Scenario 2: Think About It in the Future

We don’t want customers to make financial decisions that aren’t smart. If a water filter just isn’t in the cards for you this year, then we completely understand. But there’s no need to wipe it off the list entirely!

Think about installing a water filtration system in the future, especially when you’re ready to make some big improvements to your home’s plumbing system. And our team is happy to provide the installation, maintenance, and even targeted repairs when you detect an issue.
